The Amber Sword
TL: I’m back. Sort of. Though I haven’t really been posting here, I posted drafts in the patreon instead. I’m back and will probably edit the drafts and post them here. Give me a day or two to catch up on past comments.
tl;dr I’ll still try to translate for 2-3 years at a snail’s pace, then see where things go.
First of all, you guys might have noticed my very inconsistent schedule since last year. It is partially true that I got really addicted to Granblue Fantasy, but what ultimately caused me to become inconsistent in my schedule is really the stress of translating TAS (the slump from knowing Brendel’s truth was also difficult to recover from).
It’s supposed to be wolfietranslation, not wolfieghostwrites. (What happened to my relaxing translation hobby……) Every time I fix the author’s plot, no matter how small the changes are, I have to bite my nails and ensure+hope that the changes don’t affect the overall plot, then agonize over how I ghostwrite/fanfictionwrite/edit/fix things.
Now there’s someone else who took up the series, which I got to know of yesterday, and he started translating it closely to the source material. I won’t be surprised that these plot holes aren’t important to the average reader and they simply want more of the plot. To be honest, I totally hope they enjoy the ride and ignore the problems as I can’t produce quick chapters. To the new translator, perhaps you can market the series better than I did and get more support to do it until the end, good luck. Contact me if you have any questions, but I’m not entirely sure whether I can produce a complete glossary for you or that you even need it now (4 months late lol).
As for me, well, I still cling to the idea that there’s a really good parallel world story here and it would be awesome if it’s edited. But at the same time, I’m exhausted. I practically died in TLing for nearly a full year and no longer want to take on sponsored chapters, because it’s too stressful to come out with the edits at a consistent speed and time frame. The idea that I might write badly and screw up the plot doesn’t help too. Now I let the ideas to fix things come to me instead and then TL up the chapters when they come.
So what’s the conclusion? At the very least, I will try to edit up to the upcoming battles (Brendel vs nobles arc). I’ll also post more translation notes to show where I edited things, so that readers don’t get confused between the newly TLed original source and my edits if they want to see what’s different. There should be a page somewhere in the website explaining the editing process, if you’re curious about it.
The last thing on this announcement is that I hope you enjoyed TAS, be it my edits or the raws’ source translation.
Sponsored chapters will remain closed until further notice. If I ever open it again.
PS: Closest official feedback was translating the series beautifully over literally back then. Now that there’s another comparison…. Hopefully I didn’t mangle the plot till you can’t recognize it any more. 😡
Anyways, cutting the boring story short, I won’t be updating until the employee gets better and is back at work. My patreon has the latest drafts and updates. I will also be posting TSTBGAM drafts there in the future.
TL: There’s a bit of minor change from the raws, and also some fixes from my draft in patreon. This will also be the last chapter of the batch until I finish translating this mini boss arc. ETA next few chapters will be maybe 1-2 days.
TL: Next chapter will probably be a few hours later (sort of depends, I might be tired and have to take a nap). There’s a small cockroach that invaded my room and I couldn’t find and kill it thanks to how messy my room is. I will be cleaning before coming back to edit the other chapters.
